The Secret Gardens - Gladstone Park

Time Out - 12th April 2006

Gladstone Park

This 86 acre park was originally part of the Dollis Hill House Estate (built in 1824) and was named after the Liberal prime minister who was a frequent visitor.  It became a public park in May 1901 and the lovely tree lined avenues are one of the key draws.  From the top of the hill, the park offers panoramic views of London - in particular the Wembley Stadium development.  The Holocaust Memorial is here, as well as the Gandhi Peace Grove, a circle of trees to celebrate Mahatma Gandhi and various curiosities including a model ‘Brontosaurus’ and tree sculptures.  A stone statue of a girl now resides in the duck pond.
